Das screens at New Space Gallery
Rahul Das, alum 2005, Film Directing Program, has been invited to be screen his thesis film 'India Spiceland' in the 'KEEP IN TOUCH' short film program in Saturday, July 23rd at 8:00pm Newspace, 5241 Melrose Elizabeth "Beth" Bird has won the Best Documentary award and accompanying The citation written by the jurors read: Beth Bird is an alum, MFA 12/03, Integrated Media Program, School of Eric Darnell, alum, MFA, Experimental Animation program along with DreamWorks premiered Madagascar, a computer animated comedy feature. The animated feature opened strong over the memorial weekend ($61 million US box office). Madagascar was written by Eric Darnell, Tom McGrath, Mark Burton, and Billy Frolich. Polson screens at LA Film FestTod Polson, alum, BFA 1993, Character Animation Program, has been selected to screen his film, The Pumplin of Nyefar in the Shorts category at the Los Angeles Film Festival, Sunday June 19 at 7:15pm and Sunday, June 26, 1:30pm located in the DGA Theatre. Energy Country, 2003, 14:30min, On the Various Nature of Things, 1995, 25 min., In Order Not to be Here, 2002, 33 min. all screened at the Echo Park Film Center, Thursday, April 28th, 8pm The BLVD, 1999, 64 min. screened at the CalArts Bijou Theater, Friday, April 29th, 4pm Menkes' Massaker wins Fipresci at BerlinaleNina Menkes, faculty, Program in Film and Video screened the documentary she shot and co-created Massaker (about the sabra and shatilla massacre) as the 2005 Berlinale film festival where the film won the FIPRESCI prize award. James' "Most Typical Avant Garde" releasedDavid James' massive, comprehensive book, "The Most Typical Avant garde-- "history and geography of minor cinemas in Los Angeles" has recently come out, UC Berkeley Press, and, seems destined to become a landmark classic and definitive resource in the field.
